FAQ
Who?
Revolution Hawaii is for Christian men and women between the ages of 18 and 29.
What?
A team of committed men and women will spend a year learning how to love God and love others. This will take place in many forms including intense daily discipleship, one-on-one mentoring, relevant study and expert teaching from some of the top leaders of The Salvation Army and the Christian Community. However, the main focus of Revolution Hawaii will be in the field. For nine months, team members will be assigned to one of four corps (churches) on the island where they will serve as an active member, getting involved in corps activities and helping out where needed. But don't worry, you won't be a slave to the corps officer (pastor) or the Corps. Most of your time will be spent in the poorest areas around your church where you will meet people, build relationships, and learn to love and serve them like Jesus. We will encourage you to "Go for souls, and go for the worst". The summer months will be an extreme missionary experience to various islands of Micronesia. This is not for the faint of heart.
Where?
Revolution Hawaii spends nine months on the island of Oahu, Hawaii and two months in various parts of Micronesia.
When?
This program will begin in early September and finish in mid August.
Why?
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these."
Mark 12:30-31

What if I have Student Loans?
If you have a student loan you may be able to get a deferment. A deferment is where there is no payments and no interest on your loan. There are a few ways you can do this. Since you will be volunteering your time without compensation, you automatically qualify for a deferment due to lack of income. When you arrange your deferment with your lender you need to ask for an Economic Hardship Deferment Request form. We can supply you with a letter that will attest to your situation.
How safe is it?
At Revolution Hawaii, safety is one of our top priorities. We will do everything we can to make sure that team members stay safe during their year here. Before they arrive, each accepted delegate will be given a manual with safety rules and guidelines included. They will also be provided with intensive training during orientation as well as throughout the year. The Revolution Hawaii directors and staff have a long history on the island and their knowledge and experience will be very useful as well.
When is my application date deadline?
