Slavery still exists. Millions of people around the world are exploited and abused through human trafficking, the world’s third largest organized crime ring, second only to weapons and drugs. Humans – nearly one-third of them children – are being sold for sex and forced labor. The Salvation Army is very present in the fight to combat human trafficking. |

HIV/AIDS has been called a scourge, a plague, and this century’s leprosy. How big is the problem? Sixty-five million people have been infected with HIV. Forty million people are still living with HIV/AIDS while 25 million people have died from it. It is the leading cause of death in sub-Saharan Africa. Every day it kills 8,500 people and infects 14,000 others. |
